The Love Interest - Cale Dietrich
The Love Interest is by Cale Dietrich it is about an organisation called LIC and it follows a guy that had been chosen for his chosen one along with meeting his rival, he was given a name and role to follow. There are two roles, ‘Nice’ and ‘Bad’. Cayden is the guy we follow throughout the book and the chosen lover or partner we should call her is Juliet. Cayden is the nice guy while his rival is Dylan and we follow Cayden’s side during this story. Cayden has been given an implant that connects him to his relationship counselor I would say but his boss or basically everyone’s boss under the company's roof talks to him and tells him if he doesn't make his chosen one love him and choose him as her partner he will die.
There are always 2 people sent out and one dies. It gives the chosen one more variety I guess. Cayden and Dylan are put onto Earth so yes real planet but the organization isn’t real haha, anyway yeah Cayden the main character meets his mum and dad and Juliet and basically the book follows his journey towards getting Juliet's heart.
Dylan comes to Cayden's house every night and Cayden suspects him for maybe trying to get his guard down, but what maybe Dylan did suspect, Cayden was gay and he was gay for Dylan. But the thing is if he’s gay and get’s Juliet's heart he wins and is still alive and if Dylan and Cayden go off by a gay relationship they will both die to a ‘Stalker’ the are machines designed to kill Love Interests. It comes down to the last day and Cayden ends up winning but he doesn't want to see himself killing someone he loves and cares for even if just a friend and he ends up telling Juliet about the organization they work for and it turns out her best friend that was dating Trevor also worked for the same organization, but Trevor ends up breaking up with her beforehand of this scene because Trevor had cheated on her with the interviewer of a swimming carnival they had attended and he couldn’t bear seeing Juliet’s best friends face (I don’t remember her name like something with a N). But moving forward everyone wants to defeat the “disgusting organization” according to Juliet’s words and they are able to find the LIC area and where they are, they were able to find this from the device from their head that connected their communication to their counselors. The gang basically goes to the organizations building/buildings and try to destroy the Stalkers and they end up killing Trevor and almost Juliet in the process, Juliet got shot in the shoulder and Trevor jumped in front of N and he wasn’t wearing bulletproof armour, how heroic. The fight finished with one person dying and did Juliet and Cayden get together? NOPE Cayden and Dylan get together with a red tree outside their house representing Trevor the good old dude gang.
